Condos with no pets allowed

Toronto Condos with No Pets Allowed

Let me start by saying that I love animals. I grew up with a couple of beloved dogs in the family.

There are, of course, some clients who prefer to reside in a condo building that is entirely pet-free for personal reasons (severe allergies, fear of dogs, personal preference etc).

While almost all condos in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have some sort of pet restriction, usually a limit on the weight of the pet or a limit on the number of pets per condo unit, there are very few condo buildings with a strictly enforced "No Pets Allowed" policy issued by the condo board.

Here is a small list of condo buildings throughout the GTA that have a "no pets" policy. As condo board rules may change, it is advisable to confirm the latest rules on a building's pet policy by reaching out to property management, prior to committing to moving into a condo building.

If you have any additional condo buildings to add to this list, please share it in the comments below and the list will be updated here for others to reference.

You have no idea how nice it is to know that there are condo buildings out there in Toronto that don't allow pets. We have severe animal allergies to dogs. Thank you so much for posting a list of buildings that are pet free! My family loves leasing/renting and was wondering if you know of any townhouses, or condos, or homes that are still pet free, on a low floor, and are waterfront, or close to waterfront. Tall order I know, but that's a dream of ours. Any help you may provide would be immensely appreciated.

Thanks,
Michelle

I have allergies to dogs and cats, but I find it disappointing that a Condo that you buy can have a no pet rule.

@Michelle: Thank you for reaching out. Our Team has been in touch with you to follow up with assistance. In the future, if you have any real estate questions or needs, please feel comfortable in reaching out to me directly by calling 647-836-2895.

@Barb Harris: Yes, to the disappointment of some of us, there are several condo towers in Toronto that have a strictly enforced no-pet rule. The good news for you is that the vast majority of condo towers allow pets and have a limited restriction usually on the weight and number of pets allowed per condo.

I will have my closing this July.
Before we bid i.asked my agent regarding no pets sign by the enyrance door. My agent told.me no problem with that. Dogs are okag in the building.
The day they asked me to give deposit i asked again about the pet policy and i was assured again!
Come June just a month before my closing.i spoke to property mgmt re the renovations i.will be doing and i raised my concern amd to my surprise she told me she cannot allow me.to move in with my dogs. I was told to either get rid of the dogs or put the condo up for sale.
In a ddition to my stress the apartment building where i am currently staying has already other applicants interested since ingave my 60 day notice already .

I will be left home less because of the agent's misrep. I am.so confused ,mad, stressed with all of this. I need help. I dont know what to do. Days are counting. Please whoever reads this. Kindly enlighten me.

@Aim: I am very sorry to hear about the stress and frustration you experienced from your condo purchase. Yes, the agent and also your lawyer, would have done their due diligence if they have explicitly reached out to the condo property management either before drafting the offer, or during the conditional period, to confirm if your pet dogs would be allowed in the building based on their breed and weight since most condo buildings restrict pets based on breeds/weight/number of dogs. Unfortunately, there is not much advice or guidance that I am allowed to share because you are currently represented by another agent - and as an agent and broker myself, it is against my professional ethics to offer much guidance to someone who is represented by another agent. What I would suggest is speaking to RECO (the real estate council of Ontario) who oversees the professional ethics of real estate agents to see if there is any recourse. Also, consult with your lawyer on this subject and to review your options. And it also may help to speak to the manager or broker of record of the brokerage that your real estate agent works for. I sincerely wish you well in finding the right answers and solutions for a smooth move into your new condo.

Hi Karen, you've no idea how wonderful it is to actually see someone standing up for people like me that want to live in a condo but not able to because of the fact that I'm very scared of pets.
I was just wondering if you know of any condos for rent in R. Hill, Woodbridge, Vaughan, Kleinberg and King city.
I'll greatly appreciate your help and response.

Thank you,

Hi May, Thank you for stopping by our blog post. It's unfortunate to hear about your fear of pets and I am sorry to hear that. The good news is that there are condo buildings in the York Region (which includes Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, Vaughan, Kleinberg and King City) that have a "no pet" policy. You may wish to look into these condo buildings for availability:

7250 Yonge St in Vaughan
7300 Yonge St in Vaughan
120 Promenade Circle in Vaughan and
7373 Martin Grove in Vaughan.

If you wish to have assistance in securing a rental, I could certainly introduce you to one of our leasing associates on the team. Please feel free to reach me directly if you would like assistance from one of our leasing associates. Thank you.
